2008 Season Review: Jim Pla in learning mode

As the youngest driver in the Formula BMW series, 16 year-old Jim Pla was basically in learning mode during 2008, but the Frenchman will be looking to capitalize on his initial season’s experience and become a consistent runner next year. “I must admit it wasn’t easy to debut in the series with a team which was also discovering Formula BMW. So obviously, it took some time for everything to come together. Because of my lack of experience, I started most of the races from a low grid position, and often raced in the thick of the pack where there’s a lot of action going on around you on every lap. That said, as the season unfolded and I moved closer to the team which is located at Le Mans, we gained momentum and I started racing in the top 10, achieving a 4th place finish at Monza at the last event. No doubt that this first year was all about learning the ropes but in 2009, my objective will be to win and demonstrate my true potential. Early December, I will be entering the Formula BMW World Finals at Mexico which will be my first racing experience outside of Europe. So I’m really impatient to go…”
