Barcelona Formula BMW Europe: Jim Pla in the points in season opener
Jim Pla scored points in both races of the opening round of the Formula BMW Europe in Barcelona, although the Frenchman left Spain disappointed with his weekend’s racing.
“For starters I should have done better in qualifying, but in race 1 the accelerator pedal was only opening at 70%, which cost me quite a bit of power and sent me from 7th at the start to 12th. In Sunday’s race, David Mengesdorf and I had a little bit of a run-in at the hairpin on the second lap, and after that the lead cars opened up a gap. The car was certainly better but I must admit it’s difficult to overtake on this track, so I settled for 8th place in race 2.”
