Formula BMW Europe: Jim Pla concludes 2009 campaign

After dominating the Valencia and Spa rounds of the Formula BMW series, Gravity young gun Jim Pla broke his winning streak at Monza. Seventh in Saturday's race, the young Frenchman was forced into  retirement in the second round after starting from pole.

"Things just didn't go our way this time," conceded the DAMS junior. "I was slow off the grid in race 1 and then spun after a misunderstanding with my team mate Tarançon. That put me down to 13th but I still managed to finish 7th with some very fast laps. On Sunday, my race was shortened by another encounter with my team mate, who hit me at the back and knocked my rear wing off. I was naturally looking for a better pair of results this weekend, but the main point is that  since the mid-season I proved my worth and became a race winner."

In the final championship standings, Jim Pla finishes 5th behind Christensen, Frijns, Juncadella and 2009 series winner Felipe Nasr.
