No points for Pla at Nürburgring

The fourth round of the Formula BMW Europe series held during the German Grand Prix weekend at the Nürburgring didn’t provide Jim Pla with any points. The Gravity driver clawed back from a difficult qualifying performance and 18^th place on the grid to finish 11^{th in Saturday’s race.} .

“I had a good start and moved up to 15^th on the opening lap, explained the Frenchman, and then I picked up the pace and enjoyed a few nice overtaking maneuvers, like when I passed my team mate Tarençon. In the end I got up to 11^th, right behind Manzur and not far from the main group.”

Sunday’s proceedings were marked by rain and a start behind the safety car. Jim Pla’s low grid position acted as a catalyst for the Frenchman to demonstrate was again that in race trim, he definitely has the pace.

“I really have to improve my level of performance in qualifying, because in the races my pace is actually quite good, as proves the progress I made today from 19^th on the grid to 12^th. That’ll be my objective at Budapest where I hope to score a pair of good results.”
