Silverstone Formula BMW: a weekend to forget for Jim Pla
The third round of Formula BMW Europe series was held at Silverstone last weekend, the stage of the British Grand Prix.
Gravity driver Jim Pla resumed his duties with the DAMS Team but failed to leave the British track with a satisfactory result. The set-up the team had dialled into Pla's car, coupled with Silverstone's fast and tricky layout, challenged the young Frenchman as soon as qualifying began.
“As is often the case in Formula BMW, qualifying was the key to the race. We finished pretty far back and that compromised my chances of a strong showing but I still tried to give it my best. Race 1 was a hectic event with my collisons and an early retirement for me. In the second heat, things went a little better and I managed to move up the field and finish 13th. Now we have to learn from this poor weekend in order to put on a good show at the Nürburgring in a few weeks."
